April Fool’s Day…or for some All Fool’s Day…..an annual custom that is celebrated on April 1st…that consists of practical jokes and hoaxes. The way this works is that the practical joker or player of the hoax will often expose themselves by shouting out, “April Fool’s” at the recipient of the joke or hoax. The recipient in return is called April Fools! Some people will go to the extreme for their pranks and jokes by including multiple people to pull off their prank. April Fool’s Day has been popular since the 19th century, but the day is not a public holiday in any country. The only exception is Odessa in Ukraine, where the first of April is an official city holiday.
Allow me to share a prank that my prankster brother pulled on me well over 20 years ago…however, I can still laugh about it…now anyway after these years. I was the office manager for and OB/GYN physician back in the 90s. The office had just closed for lunch and our “office closed” recording was turned on for the phones. Well, when we returned from lunch there was a call for me that was left and it was very professional asking me to return the call immediately that it was urgent from a Mr.Graff. Well, I immediately had a sick feeling in the pit of my stomach so I called the number but the line was busy….I continued to call the number over and over again…until finally…the phone rang and a nice lady answered the phone and said, ” Hello, and thank you for calling…The Houston Zoo.” I explained to her about the message that I had received and she laughed and said that she was receiving numerous calls and always does on April Fool’s Day. You see…it seems that Mr. G-Raff …..aka Giraffe has been calling people all day!! At that moment…I knew….my brother Marc….his days were numbered!!! When I called him….he couldn’t stop laughing! Oh…the antics of a brother. Ya gotta love ’em!
No Pranks From Me
Nope…I’m not going to do it….no pranks from me. Instead….I’m going to change things up a lot. Being a music lover…..I will share with you a variety of songs with the word “Fool” in the title. So…sit back…take a listen and tell me what you think at the end of this post. Happy Listening!!
