Dim The Lights
When you think about the night, the first thing that comes to mind is sleep. Yet, there is so much more to the evening hours that turn into night. Late in the evening….have you ever just grabbed a good book curled up on the couch with your favorite fluffy blanket and let your mind run away with the characters in your book? I have on an occasion or two and it’s wonderful. The house is still, with others asleep and you’ve dimmed the lights. You have set the stage. So, go ahead…escape to wherever the characters take you.
What Do You Mean…Take A Nap?
Growing up, my mom never had us take naps. But this day in age, young kids take naps all of the time. It’s not a bad thing, it’s just the way it is. The closest thing to taking a nap for me was when I was in the third grade in Miss Theiss’s class at Garfield Elementary, it was always right after lunch. She would turn out the light, read from a book to the class and most of the students would take a nap…not me….. I couldn’t take a nap to save my life! Even as an adult, I can’t take a nap, I lay down and try, but nothing! Unless I don’t feel good or I’m sick…..I’ve been on the verge, it just never happened. But then again I’ve never really been a “nap-person”. I’ve always left sleeping for the nighttime…..should I blame my mom!? Doubtful.
“Mama…I’m scared!”
But the nighttime…it simply holds so many memories for me. I can remember waking up in the middle of the night as a very young girl. I would yell, “Mama, I’m scared…can I come and sleep with you?” She always would let me crawl into bed with her, no questions asked. She was always so comforting, protecting me and holding me tight. My mama always smelt good and the softness of her skin will forever be in my memories. I am so blessed to still have her in my life. When she hugs me to this day, I can still feel the same softness and comfort that her hugs always offer.
Do You Want To Know A Secret?
When I was a teenager, late in the evening and into the night was the best time to spill your heart out to your girlfriends. Whether we were on the phone or hanging out at each other’s house to spend the night. We would talk about the boyfriend we had….or wish that we had. We could talk for hours, laughing and crying together. Listening to music and just sharing our secrets and be there for another with a shoulder to lean on.

It’s kind of funny how the years can go by and you grow into an adult, but you still yearn for the same shoulders that you had to lean on as a young girl. To share your deepest secrets, and get and give advise…..and always laugh and even cry together.
Sleeping is Never Overrated
We all need a healthy 8 hours of sleep, but I’m almost certain, not everyone even comes close to what the body actually needs. With all of the running around, adding too much on your “plate” called daily living that, the sleep that is needed is slowly being put on the back burner. Getting up early and staying up way too late….basically burning the candles at both ends, is a killer on the body. It eventually catches up with you and affects your day-to-day living. We’re all aware that lack of sleep hinders your thinking and decision making. But most people don’t do anything about it. Instead, that find other alternatives to keep them “awake”. I’m fairly certain that their body is trying to tell them something.
Chug-a-lugging down a power/ energy drinks like “Monster or Full Throttle” is a quick fix. Don’t jeopardize your health or the people around you due to lack of sleep. Your body and mind need the time to regroup, recharge and unwind. So, soak in a tub, let go of the day’s stress, light some candles…even grab a glass of wine. Because when you go to bed a full 8 hours, you’re giving your body, mind, and soul the nourishment that it really needs. Your body deserves it.

When Two Souls Collide
“Tender is the Night”…are there really any words to describe when two hearts and souls collide? I don’t believe that there is. The delicate stillness of the night, when the one that you’ve longed for is finally in your arms. It becomes an explosion of emotions, both physically and mentally, almost overwhelming. The pureness of the night…it’s when at that exact moment, you want the world to stop because of the power between to souls in that passion-filled moment…it’s what was meant to be. The gentle hunger and caressing of two bodies, hearts and souls…becoming one. “Tender is the Night”….it’s when words are not needed, only the touch of one another.
Tender is the night..when you hold your baby tight…tender are the motions…tender is the night.

In The Still Of The Night
Silence is Golden…the stillness of the night. It’s when prayers are said, and when babies are conceived. It’s when fiery passion is felt…..and love is shared. It’s when you let your body unwind from a hectic day. It’s when storybooks are read and cuddling happens. It’s a comfort….a a release…it’s what’s needed.
Appreciate each night….never rush it…let it linger. It’s fuel for the heart, mind, body, and soul.
