Time to dance like no one is watching!

Life’s a Dance, we learn as we go…sometimes we lead….and sometimes we follow. Don’t worry about what you don’t know…Life’s a Dance.. we learn as we go.” What a beautiful phrase. This lyric is from Country Music Singer, John Michael Montgomery. This is how life should be lived. It’s how things used to be. Instead, the whole world revolves around rushing. Always in a hurry.

With that being said, “Get up and Boogie”. That was a catchphrase lyric from a disco song back in the late ’70s. If you really think about, in this day and age, that’s exactly what everyone is doing with their life…..”Getting up to Boogie” and so goes the saying, “Life is Flying By”.

Life truly is too short. It can be taken away in an instant. But, we all do it….. wishing our life away. I’m guilty, I’ll admit it. I’m always ready for Friday to get here when it’s barely Monday!

A picture is worth a thousand words.

When I was a little girl, I remember I couldn’t wait to turn 13. To finally become an official teenager! But then what? I’ll tell you what! I wanted to hurry up, grow up and get into high school, learn to drive, go on dates, go to parties, football games, make the drill-team getting ready for graduation…..the list goes on and on! Can you relate yet?

High school was the best time of my life. If I could go back and do it all over again with what I know now, I would….in a heartbeat. Luckily for me, I was blessed to have had the best four years in high school, with classmates that I am still in contact with today through the help of Facebook.

If only I had that time machine, I would take the class I was afraid to take. Make the friends that I never made. Try out for the choir because I love to sing. Do the things, I said that I never had time or the nerve to do. We all need to simply take one day at a time, enjoy the moment. Because time is something that we can never get back. Life has no rewind, no pause or even DVR button to push….stop….replay, and replay again. If the time we had on this earth were that simple…… it’s not….. but it simply is that precious. We forget to cherish the moments and we hurry through everything. We hurry with the amount of time we sleep, the meals that we eat and the conversations that we share. Sadly the list goes on and on.

Before you know it, “Poof”. The opportunity to laugh a little louder, kiss a little slower and even love a little longer, is no longer within reach. It’s OK to make those mistakes along your life’s journey. Because this is how our soul learns to grow, and how our lessons are learned. But most of all, how we fill our hearts with love.

Things Remembered

No truer words were better sung than those by the iconic duo Simon and Garfunkel’s “59th Street Bridge Song.”…..”Slow down, you move too fast. You’ve got to make the morning last……”

Slowing down your life’s journey even a little bit with certain things in your life is all the extra time that one needs to appreciate the little things in life. Spend more time with your aging parents. They will love the time you share together and you will be thankful that you did. You just never know how much more time they have on this earth.

Always remember that we do not have that time machine that we all wish that we had. We do not have the opportunity for the first time “do-over”. But, we can do our very best to do things right the first time. So, make that time, the best it can be. There is only one first time.

So go on……get out there, enjoy life to the fullest. It’s okay to shake your groove thing! Just don’t forget to stop and smell the roses. You’ll be so glad that you did.

Life’s a Dance…….so turn up the music!

  1. So true Brenda! I did the same thing when I was younger, wishing to be at an older age, thinking life would be better and I will be able to do more. Then I remember turning 30 and wondered where the time went and already questioning what I had accomplished over those 30 years. We all need to slow down and appreciate the small things and choose our priorities differently!

    1. I agree with you 100%! Time is slowly passing us by! Take care, my friend. 🙂
