We all love our pets…and we have all different kinds of pets at that. From…dogs and cats….to rabbit and guinea pigs…just to name a very few…plain and simple….we all love our pets. We have always had dogs in our home….and the two that own my heart are our miniature schnauzers…Riley and Baxter. For being the smallest things in our home….they are actually the “heads-of-household”….and I often feel like they know just that!
But why are we so attached to our pets anyway? I’ll tell you why…from my perspective anyway. For me…and my little fur babies…I often feel that I am more attached to them…than they are to me. Their tiny little beings…grab my heart…deep down into my soul…they are family….hands down…no questions asked. My “little-boys” that I jokingly call them! But with all of that “lovey-dovey” stuff being said, have you ever wondered what they would actually say to you if given the chance?
Out Of The Mouths…Of Pets
Have you ever just wondered what your pet is thinking when they give you that “sideways” look? Sure you have….we all have. Oh….well I can only imagine with my Baxter and Riley…what they must be thinking. As it is, I already talk to them as if they were my little boys. That’s right….I’m guilty as charged. I’m sure half the time they’re thinking….”Really, lady….we have no idea what you’re saying”…..and more times that not….they have probably also thought…..” You talk too much!” Imagine that…me talk too much! But that really doesn’t matter to me…because I love my dogs….and will always make sure that they know just that. I happily tell them goodbye…yep….every single time that I leave the house…I have to really….they need to know that I’m leaving….that I love them….and to most definitely behave while I’m gone…and more importantly…. that I’ll be home later! Come one…you know that you all that of that too…..we are all….I’m sure….in good company!
Absolute true fact! You can talk to your pets….dogs…cats…or otherwise and not only will you receive their undivided attention….but you can pour your heart out to them…..you got that right! They are our therapists of sorts! Not too mention….their undivided attention is absolutely….priceless! I’m certain that you already know that they can and will entertain us for hours on end…can be a comfort when we’re sad…lonely or even depressed. They know when you don’t feel well…and will be by your side when you need them the most. You’ve guessed it….they have stolen our heart
Don’t Own A Pet…Then Adopt From A Shelter
There are so many pets…simply abandoned by their owners. I’ve never understood it….and quiet frankly..can’t really excuse it either. Those eyes….who can even resist those loving…yet pleading eyes. It has been many…many years since I walked into a shelter….and frankly…I’m afraid if I went into one today…I’m 100% certain that I would not leave empty-handed. My son is notorious for “adopting” from shelters. He has had five dogs…in his adult life….the first two he “adopted” from a pet store….but the other three…were from shelters. If he had his way…and the space to boot….he would have adopted dozens by now….yes….he has that kind of a heart….he makes me so proud.
Not All Barks Are The Same
I ‘m not an expert on pets…except for my own and I’m here to tell you. If they could only speak….well… let’s just say that their different barks say it all….in my house anyway. When they are at the back door ready to go out or just want something…Riley will bark this very soft little “woof”. I will get this same sweet, “woof” when he thinks that it’s time for me to get up…if I’m sleeping…to either let him out…or feed him. He really is being very quiet with this little bark. It’s as if he is being very polite asking me a question. However…if he is ignored…then the little “woof” begins to get louder until he gets out attention. When he does this…I’ll say to him, “quit yelling at me, Riley.” Then he gives me that…”I made you get up look!” Yep…he owns me. They are clearly both spoiled on multiple levels and I own it…it’s my own fault…..I’m doomed!
Your Heart Will Never Be The Same
Pet lovers…no matter the pet is a breed all on their own. It doesn’t matter what pet or pets that you have…they are the pets that you love and melt your heart. Just always remember…they are all a precious commodity in our lives….and rely on us to love….protect and cherish them.
Well..it is what it is….and I’ll never change a thing….I have my four-legged kids…that rule my world….but to me they are so worth it. They fill my life with joy…comfort and most of all love….they are leaving a mark in my heart that will never fade.

This is such a nice read Brenda! I always wanted to have a dog when I was young but my parents wouldn’t allow me and I’m actually scared of dogs! That’s probably why I wanted to have it though, to have a friend, to overcome my fear. 🙂
Thanks, Nart. Start with a little puppy….miniature schnauzers are the best!! They will love you forever!!
