What is Perfection? Perfection is the condition….state or quality of being free or as free as possible from all flaws… or defects. Or a person or thing that is perceived as the embodiment of perfection Maybe even…the process or action of improving something until it is faultless or as faultless as possible.
I strive every day to be the very best that I can be… not perfect…..never perfect…I will stumble…I will fall…but above all, I will refuse to give up. It really doesn’t matter what I am doing in life. I really just…try as I might and make the very best of my life…of what I’m doing…and sometimes…even the best of a bad situation. It’s not that I’m perfect…or that my life is perfect….oh…far from it. It’s just that…as the older, I’ve gotten and as the years have gone by…I have realized to appreciate….communicate…compliment…praise….love and pray…to name a few things. Life is way too short to dwell on things in my life that I have no control over. Oh, sure…I would love the “perfect everything” in my life…..but instead…I try to make everything perfect for me…in my eyes and in my heart.
A Positive Attitude
Do I wake up happy every day…you ask? You bet I do….why not…what have I got to lose? That doesn’t necessarily mean that my day won’t fall apart in a hand-basket…but I do always put my best foot forward and start my day off on a happy note. I remember when I was a young girl…my mama told me that I was always a happy baby…..always woke up happy. Well, you know what ….I’m all grown up now…and I still wake up happy. Don’t get me wrong…I have had more setbacks…heartaches….heartbreaks…disappointments…let downs…and so on…and so on….in my life. If I were to sit here and think about it all…even dwell on all of that negative “stuff” it would bring me back to that sad time at that very moment….but why…..why…allow that? It really is so true that changing your mindset….having a positive attitude….even visualizing…what outcome you want…it will lead you there…..eventually anyway…one day. Maybe not at the moment that you want….but at the moment that it’s meant to be. Even if what you are striving for is…the perfect job….promotion…..love….or whatever, it just doesn’t happen right then and there….but it will… eventually. It is so important that we all “sweep-out” the negativity that we carry…that seems to weigh us down and allow the good…the happiness…the positivity into our head….our hearts….and our lives and see what will happen.
Shouldn’t we all do this…..believe in ourselves? Doing this…is what makes us “perfect” to ourselves….learn to adjust…adapt and above all except what we cannot change. It will make your life a whole lot easier and happier. Never strive for perfection….instead strive to be the best that you can be…the happiest you can be..and then see how you feel….you’ll be amazed.
What’s Perfect For Me May Not Be Perfect For You
That rings true for almost every aspect of our lives. Think about it….on a lighter note anyway. For example…..How do you like your steak cooked? I for one must have everything cooked thoroughly…so with that being said….my steak must be well done….no matter what….even if it’s a bit pink…I can’t…..won’t eat it. A well-done steak…for me is my preference, and it is “perfect.” Someone else, on the other hand, may prefer rare…or medium-rare…and that would be “perfect” for them…see what I mean….we all have our own….”perfect.” With so many “things” in life…we can always find our own….perfect.
Perfect In Everyway
Gift’s from God…this is where you can find perfection. It’s everywhere you look. The dainty flowers growing wild…the beautiful clouds floating in the sky. Endless sunsets and the rising of the sun….he is truly a master at his craft. It is this and so much more that we all witness every day..sometimes never even realizing the perfection that is there…right before our eyes. This, my friend, is true and beautiful unfiltered….perfection.
Am I Perfect…You Ask?
Perfect….no…this is so not me….but I am perfect to some in their eyes only. Friendships are perfect…even when the going gets touch…they are still perfect. A love…a.special deep seeded love…well that too is perfect. My mama…my number one fan…she would swear that I’m perfect….because I am to her and that’s all that matters to me. I am loved…have loved and will continue to love…. and because….of what my writing has to offer to you….this fills my heart….so if you were to ask me if I were perfect…I would say….I am blessed….blessed beyond my wildest dreams….and if this is what makes me perfect…then lucky me.

Brenda,
You have no idea how this blog is spot on right now.
I am a coach for young people. The pressure to be perfect is not relenting. It is such a scourge.
When I look at them, I compare them with the generation preceding. Then I come to my own conclusion. Social media and mainstream TV has portrayed PERFECT ass beautiful. PERFECT is self esteem. PERFECT is self confidence. PERFECT is social proof. PERFECT ‘earns’ more.
Thanks to the same social media and some veils lifted up. It is now easier to have difficult discussions. My team and I are not sleeping on the job. When we note any pessimism, procrastination, mental health, and debt with the entrepreneurs, we talk about it. Everyone now knows that they are not alone.
The blog is in the queue for a share.
Hazol, thank you for your feedback. Keep up the good job of your coaching for young people. I’m sure that they truly appreciate your guidance. I am glad that this post, made a positive impact for you. It does for me as well. Please, feel free to share this post. Thanks again.
Your thought is so positive Brenda. I always learn a lot from you, you have written so beautifully about perfection. I love reading your blogs.
Thank you, Feroz. I appreciate your kindness.
This resonates for me. Yesterday I was mentioning how I was stressed because things weren’t perfect. But nobody’s perfect and life isn’t perfect and that’s okay. Thank you for this post
You’re very welcome, Brianna. Thank you for visiting my blog.
Nice blog! This is indeed inspirational. All of us, humans are imperfect, we commit mistakes, wrongdoings or anything that may hurt other people. But it’s our nature. We can’t do anything about it, we just meed to learnhow to accept our mistakes and ask for forgiveness from ourselves aand from others.
Your kindness is so much appreciated…and I thank you. 🙂
Such a great positive, uplifting post! We need to know that we are enough and perfection doesn’t have to be achieved… Great job!
Thank you, Becky. That really means a lot to me.
I really needed this post. Thank you!!!
You are so welcome Laurie. 🙂
I am perfect, flaws and all, perfectly right for someone that’s me. My steak would have to be medium rare. My chips salted and my sweets sour. Mother nature throws her beauty around like confetti in the breeze, but she can also stoke fires and swell rivers. There are two sides to everything in this world and also in me. Emotion led me, when unwell, happy, scared or sad, and the calm, funny, witty me without a care. With my cup half full, and a story to tell, with my tongue firmly placed in my cheek. It looks to the world as if nothing would ever get me down. It is the light and shade that makes us unique.
Love this comment, Ellen! Thank you so much!! 🙂
To me, everything in life is perfectly imperfect 🙂 Great post! 🙂
Thank you, Kim. I appreciate that.
Nobody is perfect is a great motto. Understanding this sentiment is PERFECT! I have teens now and trying to emphasize this fact. One of them is kinda a perfectionist so I have done work to do. I’m not sure where he gets it from, definitely not me.
Great comment, Jenny! Thanks so much for sharing. 🙂
To be perfect needs lot of efforts. And efforts make us get tired. When we perform, it should be like natural breathing. Nice post. Thanks.
Thank you, Narasinh. 🙂
I loved this – it was sweet, true and so genuine!! Written from the heart!
Thank you, so much Lisa!
