It amazes me really…some of the decisions that people make…assumptions…that are easily made and more than once….opening thy mouth and inserting thy foot. It happens all of the time! I simply want to ask…..”What makes you think that?”
It may be hard to believe…but we are not right all of the time….nope…much to our dismay…we will be wrong with something. Whether it be something that we are doing….saying…and believing….so come on now…..”What makes you think that?”
Here are a few of my…..”What were you thinking?” scenarios…..you tell me if you agree…or can relate.
1. Cutting in line….for anything….like traffic…sporting events…..just to name a couple of things. How do people figure doing this is okay. It’s clear as the plain of day that there are people in line….waiting for whatever is happening….yet they feel it’s okay for them to “cut the butter” and worm their way in. This is not only rude….but clearly the wrong thing to do….but for that particular individual(s) it’s clearly okay in their eyes. It’s not okay…..so “What makes you think that?”
2. Speaking your peace…..before thinking about what you will say first. I think that this is really a pet-peeve for me because….people do it all of the time…I’m far from perfect but I really try to choose my words wisely before saying anything…because the very last thing that I ever want to do is hurt someone with something that I’ve said…because hurtful words will make an impression that can last forever.
3. Things are just that….things. Why do people feel that they need to brag about all of the “material-things” that they have? Good for you….that you are so fortunate that you have…what you have. But there are so many people out there in this world….simply struggling to make ends meet. I just feel that there really must be something within themselves that must be missing because they need to “flaunt” what they have. If only that information could be “toned-down” a bit….simply for the others that aren’t as lucky.
4. Rush…rush…rush……”Slow Down”….you’re going to give yourself a heart attack. What’s the rush anyway. Did you know that rushing and hurrying is a major cause of accidents? It’s true….you’re so busy rushing that you can get hurt….or hurt someone in the process. So….slow down…..take it easy.
5. Rudeness in general. What’s up with that? Let’s take Social Media…for instance. As I scroll along…I see and read all kinds of things….but what really infuriates me is how rude people can be….when someone will give their opinion on something…whether it be anything random from everyday life….to political comments. I have read so many rude and mean things that people will comment on…thinking that it’s okay…when clearly it’s not. It amazes me how people cannot just leave well enough alone….keep their comments to themselves…..well I’m here to tell you…sometimes you need to leave things alone….and keep on scrolling. Because rudeness is not okay. “What makes you think that?”
Life….it’s full of joy….love…happiness…adventures…giving….and getting. But sadly it also includes…negativity…shallowness…illness… disappointments…and let-downs. Why add to it with all of the greediness…anger…hatred…and taking your “know-it-all-pill”. These negative things will not help to make the world go ’round. So…really now….”What makes you think that?”
Life is hard enough for all of that….so my friends I ask you to be kind to one another….remember the words you say may make an impression…the wrong way….and life really is too short for all of that.
My life isn’t perfect….oh no far from it…I have many…many hopes and dreams…and in getting there….my hopes is that…I can spread a bit of joy along the way. From the words of The Beatles….All you need is love…..love is all you need.

I really enjoyed reading this post. I am a person who also thinks before I speak, and it amazes me when others say things that are better left unsaid. Obviously, some people need reminders. Thank you for sharing your take on the matter!
