December…it’s probably one of the “craziest” and “busiest” times of the year. It’s full of decorating…shopping…baking…traveling…wishing and hoping. But instead of focusing on what really matters most for this “magical” month, we rush… stress…and run around like a bunch of crazy people. We simply…forget the fact that….”we’re only human”….we can only do so much…there is only so much time of the day…the week…the month.
Try as you might…slowing down is always out of the question. There is so much to do and so little time. For those that have kids in school and college know that school will be out soon for the winter break…..just adding to the stress level. But….wait for a minute…take a breather and prioritize it all. Because you know what? The holidays will come and go and you will survive it all…because we’re only human.
We do it all of the time…we’re all guilty of it..but keep on doing it anyway. What’s that you ask? We try to do it all..put way too much on our plates and end up working ourselves over not having enough time…money..patience..the list goes on and on. Why do we do this to ourselves? We’re not machines…we’re only human.
Remember The Reason
We do kind things for people all of the time or at least we should. We want to make everyone happy or even just trying to make an impression..it’s just in our nature. But what we all seem to forget is the reason we do the things that we do. It’s not just at Christmas that we let our lives run away from us. Think about it….it’s every occasion and holiday known to man. We try so hard to do what is right for whatever the reason, that we forgot what is truly important.
It’s time to slow down a bit…enjoy what we have….never fret on what we don’t have. Doing that is a stress factor all on its own. Sadly we are all our own worst enemy…we are really never satisfied and try to perfect everything. Well….”Hello”….how quickly we all forget…nothing is perfect and…you guessed it….we’re only human.
Always…always…remember…that holidays…birthdays….anniversaries… graduations…are among so many other things and events in your life that will come and go and will end up being the best experience for you ever. But you need to keep in your back pocket, the fact that you will be the best that you can be and do the best you can do…no more…no less..because you’re only human.
Take A Step Back
So, take a step back…take a look around..then sit back…try and relax and know that everything that you do matters…and it matters to so many people. It’s not the money that you spend…or even the material things…it’s that you took the time to do whatever you needed to do to make a difference. So, hold your head high and be thankful….because…your only human.
Wouldn’t it be wonderful…you know…if we could snap our fingers and make every aspect of our lives perfect. Sure it would be…but what would we really learn from it? Absolutely nothing. The trials and tribulations that we go through every day…whether happy or sad..is part of our learning pre-destination in life. So…go ahead… live it up…laugh a little louder….love a little deeper…hug a little tighter. But above all…never forget….you’re only human.

Aww, so motivating post! And everything is so true! Nowadays we are rushing and running through the life, without stopping. Yes, we have to slow down….. Completely agree with “You don’t need to be perfect to be amazing”!
Thank you for your ever so kind comment. I truly appreciate it.
I love this so much. And needed to hear it. Thanksgiving is the time for me that is so stressful, it exhausts me. Christmas, strangely enough, causes way less anxiety. Maybe because the kids are a little older, and more peaceful humans. I don’t know. But, it has been so relaxing. So, I need to re-read this before Thanksgiving next year:)
Thank you, Jenny. Hopefully, Thanksgiving 2020 will be a little easy on the nerves for you next year. It’s always better when the kids get older. My wish for you is a wonderful and relaxing 2020 for you and your family.
Was this post written for me? December is such a crazy, chaotic time for my family and I have been feeling very overwhelmed the last few weeks. With the kids off school and activities on hold for the holidays, we have decided to take this as an opportunity for some much needed downtime to recharge but also enjoy the break.
Love the motivation of this post! We are only human!!
Tamara…I hope that for you and your family as 2019 comes to an end, that you are able to “recharge your batteries” and get ready for 2020 and all that it will have ti offer. Thank you so much for your comment and “Happy New Year!”
Great post Brenda, All I am thinking is if I could buy more time for myself. We need to give value to ourselves first, but we often forget that. I am getting very little time for my blog. But this post has made me think to contribute more time for my blog.
Thanks Patricia. Always….always..always, try and find time for yourself. Because you deserve it.
Thanks for the reminder Brenda. I’ll surely take a rest this week. I have to remind myself that a little each day is a step to move forward! After all I am only humans and not a robot!
You’re welcome, April….remember to always be “kind” to yourself. 🙂
“You don’t have to be perfect to be amazing” I like that quote. Thank you for sharing Brenda. This is a lovely post.
Thank you so much!
Spot on Brenda. I don’t put myself under any more pressure than I need to.
These are great tips all year long. Many issues and stress could be avoided it people took a step back and slowed down. Thank you for the reminder in the flurry to set goals and start making positive changes.
So true. I think we often have unreal expectations that can’t all be met especially during the holidays. Read a book Myths of Happiness (??) that said lasting happiness comes from experiences (memories) more than material items. Good reminder for any time in our lives.
Honestly this is great advice firnany season of life! Sometimes we just need to stop and smell the roses every once in a while!
Yes, we do. Thanks, Lauren for visiting my blog.
