Valentine’s Day

Valentine’s Day…also called Saint Valentine’s Day or the Feast of Saint Valentine…is celebrated on February 14. Originating as a Western Christian feast day honoring one or two saints named Valentinus, Valentine’s Day is recognized as a significant cultural, religious and commercial celebration of romance and romantic love in many regions around the world. All About Cupid

So here is a bit of information on cupid. In classical mythology, Cupid which means “desire” is the god of desire…erotic love..attraction and affection. He is more often portrayed as the son of the love…goddess Venus and the god of Mars. He is also known in Latin as Amour…love. His Greek counterpart is Eros. Cupid’s arrow is filled with uncontrollable desire. In myths...Cupid is a minor character whose purpose serves mostly to set the plot in motion. Cupid is winged…allegedly because lovers are flighty and likely to change their minds, and boyish because love is irrational. His symbols are the arrow and the torch…” because love can wound and inflame the heart.”

Love looks…

not with the eyes….

but with the mind and the soul….

Valentine’s Day Card

The Valentine’s Day card….what a lovely way to say on paper what truly comes from the heart. When words said…are sometimes hard to come by. They are just as special to give as they are to receive. A Valentine’s Day card is a way of expressing love or affection…often times they are sent anonymously to your sweetheart or very special friend.

The Oldest known valentine is still in existence today…which was a poem written in 1415 by Charles, Duke of Orleans, to his wife while he was imprisoned in the Tower of London following his capture at the Battle of Agincourt. (The greeting is now part of the manuscript collection of the British Library in London, England)

I remember way back in elementary school when our teachers would have us decorate, bags or even shoe boxes all with everything valentines. Then the big day would come…we would put out a decorated bag or shoebox on the counter at the back of the class and throughout the day…classmates would secretively walk back there and place their Valentine’s cards in the different bags and boxes. This was always so much fun.

A Rose…Is A Rose…Is A Rose.

It’s always a wonderful surprise to receive flowers, especially on Valentine’s Day. Red roses are always a hot and expensive commodity on Valentine’s Day. The red rose symbolizes undying love…passion and even perfect love. If you send or receive pink roses…well they symbolize caring..good wishes..friendship…joyful occasions… confidence and grace. While the white rose symbolizes forgiveness, remembrance, worthiness, and serenity.

If you want to impress me…and touch my heart…then the daisy is my favorite flower of all time…..and this flower will absolutely do the trick….no matter the occasion. The daisy symbolizes innocence, loyal love, purity, faith cheer, simplicity and beauty unknown to the possessor. The beautiful daisy lives on and on and on.

Just Say…”I Do”

Valentine’s Day is the number one day for either an engagement or for actual nuptials to take place. Many engagements and weddings are months in the making leading up to a proposal….or an “I Do”….both are very romantic and special beyond words.

My Valentine’s Day Wish

Holidays…well…they come and they go…but I’d like to say to you….that on this Valentine’s Day…2020….may cupids arrow reach your heart and touch your soul…may the excitement of February 14 bring an enduring love that will last a lifetime or maybe even that very special friendship that is meant to comfort you in more ways than you’ll ever know. This is my wish for you.

I hope that you….my friend…

hold the key to someone’s heart
