Let’s face it….we all despise that little four-letter word DIET…..mostly because it sounds too much like work and frankly is a major lifestyle change. So….why even call it that? Why not just simply make a healthy lifestyle change…..one that will work…and one that will still allow you to eat delicious and healthy foods….and still lose all that weight that you have been wanting to lose for the longest time. Well, I’m here to tell you that I did just that over a year ago. I was tired of being tired…and carrying around an extra unwanted twenty-five pounds didn’t help either.
Enter a new four-letter word into my life…..KETO
Keto…for me isn’t a diet….you see it really is a lifestyle change….and I’m here to tell you that it really does work. I must admit….it was a game-changer when I emptied out the pantry….with all of the “good stuff”. This lifestyle change wasn’t just for me….nope…my husband was on board with me 100%. We became each other’s cheerleaders…and that type of moral support is needed in order to change your eating lifestyle….in order to succeed.
Exercise….Or Not To Exercise
You either love it…..or you hate it…..but for a select few…..you just might be there, somewhere in between. I actually happen to be one of the “in-betweens”. I have a recumbent exercise bicycle that I will faithfully ride 5-6 times a week for at least thirty minutes. I will go for walks….and I will use free-weights….very light ones….might I add. Back in the day…I had a gym membership that I did use…but it really was more trouble than it was worth. After a long hard day at work….finding time to go to the gym…for me…after a while….was no longer appealing anymore. I realized that I was toning up but having a hard time losing any “unwanted” weight. So I ended up canceling my membership.
But what I have come to learn while on Keto…is that you really don’t even need to exercise. My husband is the world’s worst when he comes to exercising…..it’s just not going to happen. But with that being said…he has lost 60 pounds and is now at his goal weight. We both are for that matter. This lifestyle change is what really works for us and can very easily work for you as well.
My 10 Personal Keto Rules
- Don’t overthink everything.
- Pace yourself.
- Fast for 16-18 hours at least twice a week.
- Set small weight loss goals.
- Drink lots of water daily.
- (For Me) Ride the recumbent bike 5-6 times a week.
- Treat yourself….occasionally.
- Don’t be so hard on yourself….ignore any setbacks.
- Trust the process.
- Have a support system.
What Have You Got To Lose
This day…is the very best day…to make a lifestyle change. You don’t need to say….”This will be my New Years Resolution”…..or “I’ll start next week….or even next month. You are worth so much more than that….so give it a try. The Ketogenic way…baby steps is the only way.
When I began my journey…I had a goal in my mind which I have since exceeded by losing ten pounds over my goal weight of twenty-five pounds. I feel great and I’m so glad that I made the lifestyle change. Remember this is a lifestyle change that shouldn’t be taken lightly. I am not a physician…so always consult with your own personal physician…before making any type of eating lifestyle changes.
Before I go….always remember….do this for you….not anyone else….because you are worth it. You will be so glad that you did.
Good Luck on your new lifestyle journey.

XO
I tried going keto at the start of 2020 and had some weight loss success and hypo management on it, but I couldn’t sustain the lifestyle with my depression so gave up. I tried to do it again recently, but I just couldn’t stomach the eating options again, so I abandoned the idea
Well, I’m “dirty-Keto” Because I will fall off of the wagon every now and again. 🙂
